Thanks Ruben. Did you have any issues with the way it ran with the bad injector? Can you have a faulty injector and still run as usual? Mine is unchanged from before the light went on.
The first time the light came on I was coming from Arizona hauling my Travel Trailer. The performance never changed a bit. It did well on the hills. I took it in and they replaced the EGR Valve, Light went away. Then a month or more later I went up north and thats when the light came on. we had 8 people and it was 4 hours each way. the truck rode fine, plenty of power and averaged 17MPG.
This weekend Ill probably head to Bakerfield and see how it goes.
Maybe I will try throwing on a new EGR valve and keep my fingers crossed. I am dealer phobic but if all else fails...
You guys using the fuel additive? Ruben mentioned the Diesel Kleen, are you happy with that? I am new to diesel powered vehicles.
Thanks again.
Yup, I use Diesel Kleen. I dont see/feel much difference. I guess I just use it for peace of mind. Theres a thread going on right now on the 6.0 forum. It mentions some of the benefits. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...-question.html
Been using Deisel Treat, (made by Howe), since I got my Ex - added 1 mpg solid and it seems my filters are as clean as when they went in. Also, in 200K+ miles I've only had the water light come on once and that was after I missed a couple of additives. I use 1 oz per 10 gals.
My mechanic told me it will help keep the injectors clean too. He works primarily on the "Big Rigs" and has seen 350 - 400K injectors with seemingly little wear with regular usage of this stuff.
I usually get it at Pilot - 12 bucks a half gallon and it seems to last a long time. The only thing I have to put up with is the funny looks from the gassers at the fuel stop when I'm measuring it out in a shot glass. I just tell em that Everyone needs a shot!
