Automatic front hubs DIY seal replacement question.
Can anybody link me up to part numbers of the inner and outter seals and a system blow-up. It is a 1999.5 ESOF with 'lock and auto' hubs. The vacuum pump is working but the hubs won't engage.
Mine lock fine manually but they do not work in the auto position. Does your AC default to defrost? That is an indication of a vacuum leak with the hubs. If I work the auto switch mine goes straight to defrost.
i used guzzles instructions and its pretty easy to do. i wouldnt go out and buy warns right away because if you can turn your hubs manually anyway you really dont gain anything by buying the warns. it sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. check the vacuum lines going to the top of the hubs behind the rotors and wheel and see if they are cracked. i looked at mine and they were cracked about half an inch up the line from the barb where it slips over
Guzzle's site is great for helping with the clean and lube of the hubs. I did it, and mine turn much easier now. However, I still had a vaccum leak after all that. It turned out that the hub seals (the big ones in the knuckle) were bad and leaking. Once I replaced those, the auto lock works just fine again. I also replaced my rubber vaccum lines between the hub and the inner fender well because they wouldn't hold a vaccum. I had a post about it, so you might do a bit of searching to see what I did.
