Ahh no I don't think there is a light for 2 quarts low... A turbo diesel uses some oil between changes - it's the nature of the beast!! Mine uses about 2 quarts between oil changes (5000 miles)... I'd say there's nothing out of the ordinary for you - also 2 quarts low is not really a HUGE deal - that should be right at the "add" mark on the dipstick....

i also learned with the PSD its dang near impossilbe to hurt these motors b/c i believe oil and oil pressure pressurizes the injectors i think. so...no oil equals no injectors which equals no run. kind of a safety feature that i thought was pretty cool.
Any engine in the normal course of operation will use some oil. And these engines are big so there's a lot of room for use. When was the last time you checked the oil?
I'll go through a quart every thousand miles and my engine is as healthy as a Powerstroke can be. New injectors and everything. Smoke free operation. (Black smoke doesn't count. )
If the oil light comes on you will need to buy it by the gallon. The oil light monitors pressure in the LPOP system. The georotor pump in so efficient that you have to be way low before it will loose pressure and SDPJ is correct the HPOP will loose the ability to fire the injectors before the LPOP looses the ability to lube the motor. Do a search for "Oil system" or something like that, i remeber someone posting the schematics on both the HPOP and LPOP Systems here in the last month or so.
