Radiator Support Shims?

Radiator Support Shims?
I am rebuilding my 77 F150 and I am replacing all the cab and radiator support bushings. I noticed in the LMC catalog that they show 6 shims are required for the radiator support (3 on each side). My truck did not have any shims under the radiator support when I dissassembled it, but I know the front end sheet metal has been replaced from being in an accident I'm guessing. So my question is are the 6 shims required or do you only use them as needed to align your front sheet metal? How many shims did you guys who have done this before find? Is there any trick to knowing how many shims I am goint to need? Thanks.
