Hey, Does anyone know where you can get the moisture barrier or beige factory plastic stuff that goes between the door panel and the door itself. I checked with ford and no luck there. Is there a universal form of this stuff available somewhere? I am not using a leaf/trash bag. That doesn't work. Anybody got a good idea what else to use as a last resort?
Yep the bone yard. They ussually rip barrier off and chuck it when they dismantel doors.Good luck on search .

Check at the car stereo shops. They have stuff they use for the sub boxes and the likes which is the same kind of stuff. It comes in rolls and you'll have to trim and shape to your needs.
Quicklook is right. It stops air, dirt, moisture etc from getting in. The local Ford dealer suggested going to an upholstery shop. I checked with a couple and they really didn't have much to say. I would consider going to salvage yards, but thats a lot of driving around burning up fuel for something thats not all that important. I may check with a some stereo shops and see what they say. I was hoping that one of FTE's members might have come up with the perfect solution to this fix. I really don't know what the material is that they used. If all else fails, I may try home depot or the like and see if there isn't something similar. Thanks for the input everyone!
One thing you may want to have a look at is the vapour barrier plastic film that is used in the construction industry. It has a fairly decent thickness to it and it can be easily cut and shaped with scissors and a box cutter. You also might want to have a look at the underlayment plastic that is used in laminate flooring. It is insulated and water resistant!
its just visqueen plastic like painters and cunstruction use just thicker mill now the glue they use i dont know its a non hardening glue it stays tacky good luck maybe jc whitney may have something local car stereo shop sounds good
I am on the same track as MRL123. Use some 6 mil poly that is used for vapour barrier in the construction of homes. For the size you need there are scraps all over any new home site .It is a little thick but should work.
