Sorry it took so long to get back. I had two root canals done yesterday. There goes a set of wheels and tires!
Anyways, here's the pics of what I did on my '01.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

First check my gallery pics 8 & 9 and make sure the two connectors and wires are the samefor your truck. If not, you have a different GEM.

For the mod you are wanting, you need to cut the white/w blk stripe (pin 2) on the grey connector and leave enough to reconnect it if you ever want to. I also soldered in a male and female spade connector and then protected it with heat shrink in case I ever want an easy way to put it back to stock.

Then you cap off the end coming from under the dash so it won't short out on anything. The next step is to shave a 1/2" of the insulation of the brown wire (pin 9) on the black connector and take a pick and separate the wire in half like an oval.(see pic 10 in my gallery) strip about 1" from the end of the white/w blk stripe and weave it into the brown wire and solder it. You can use a saddle splice like the red one in you see for a different mod. It is faster, but I like the soldered connection better as its fail proof. Protect that connection, and you are done. Your foglights will work same as they did from the factory but stay on with the high beams and when you flash to pass.

If you go to my gallery and look at pic 8 & 9 those are the shop manual connector diagrams. If you want to control the brightness of pod gauges or other mod like my lighted ashtray you splice into the Lt. blue/ w red as it is controlled by the rheostat wheel that dims the dash. The yellow wire on the grey connector activates the foglight relay. I have Projector headlights so I hooked the fog lights in them to that wire. I hooked the other two sets I have to pin 9 red/w yellow and pin 12 brown and use those wires to trigger the relays for those lights .

I 'm beat and my mouth hurts. Vicoden and bedtime. I'll check back here in the AM and see if that helped you. I sure apologize for any trouble I might have caused you. It was so long ago when I did all this. All that clean living in my younger days has taken its toll on my mind. .

Hope you get it dialed in,

Austin

Got my lights working again. After doing some checks with the volt meter I had a hunch it was the switch. Then a little later I found a diode inline behind the switch which made me think switch even more. Ordered a switch from Powerstrokeshop.com and sure enough, it's fixed now.

I did check my harness while I had it all out. Wiring configuration is different than yours. I sure appreciate the help though.

For now I am happy, everything works. A little later on I might just add some 100w Hella lights up front and they will for sure work with the high beams. Problem solved.

Question Red with black tracer...

Well it looks like mine is a different animal....but for the life of me I don't know why. My pin number 2 on the gray connecter is RED with BLACK tracer not white with black tracer. All of the other wires appear the same so I may try it tomorrow when it warms up a bit and I have daylight to work with....Any suggestions or insight about the wire differences would be greatly appreicated...Thanks for the awesome pics AustinS....not sure why that one wire is different...It's a 2002 with a build date of Sept, 01...Let me know what you think.....maybe I should just go ahead and give it a try....

Build date...

Hey TexasOutlaw....how did you come up with the exact build date? I see you had the month and day of 02. Mine just said 09/01 with no day. Here is a cut and paste from the websight that goes into great detail on the foglight fix thing.

MODELS THAT IT DOES WORK ON

12/01 and Later builds of 2002 Model Year

MODELS THAT IT DOES *NOT* WORK ON

SOME 11/01 and Earlier builds of 2002 Model Year

My build date of 9/01 is definitely before the mod will work, but yours being later in the build year, as in like the first line in "models it Does work on" it should work for you. I just pulled all my stuff apart and I have a red and black wire, not a black and white like AustinS described.....I may try it anyway....Hope this might help you out...Dave

I got the exact build day from the driver's door jam. It is stamped there in really small characters. I will try to take a pic of it a little later.

I will check out the foglight info that you posted.

Thanks, Dave!

My '01 build date was 4-09-01. Just in case the info helps anyone.
