I just checked the link to do the fog light fix, and it mentioned that it could not be done on a 2002 with a build date of Nov,02...well just my luck, mine is a Sept, 01 build date.....Has anyone found out or tried to see for grins if this mod will work when you have an early 02 model with the black wire insted of the green with black trace?? Just curious...Thanks, Dave
Open the drivers door, and look to the aft (right) side and it will be on the back wall of the door jam or in the right bottom corner. Mine says 09/02 so it was built before the green wire. Some lady in front of me the other day had her car in REVERSE and jammed the throttle wide open to jump out in a gap in traffic......and you can tell where this is going.......Now I have to replace some front end stuff....If it ain't one thing it's another.....this time I want them to stay on with the highbeams on.....or at least I am trying anyway....
Thanks for the info. I will check mine out a little later on and we might just try that mod at while I am work today.
Man, that sucks about the wide open reverse driver. Hope it all works out and the truck comes back better than ever.
We were recently rear ended on purpose by a drunk driver that was mad because we stopped in the middle of the road. There was a stop sign there, we were supposed to stop. Needless to say he spun me off into a dimension of pissed off I never knew existed.
My 02 has a build date of 12/01 and i had the green with black tracer wire. This is for sure another great mod. I like having control of my Fog Lights now.!
About 3 years and no problems with this mod yet.!

Am going to pull my fuse box down to see if by chance I have that green with black tracer wire. It doesn't make any sense to have the fog lights off with the high beams on. Give me light!
Just pull your headlight/foglight switch assembly and jump it.
It is a power distribution box for both of those circuits.
I don't know if the 02's are the same, but this worked perfect for my '01.
I did this 5 yrs ago and still working perfect.
On mine when headlights are turned on, it feeds 12V to the foglamp switch.
When highbeams are switched on, the headlight switch itself cuts power to that wire. If you jump it with the wire that has 12V output when high beams are switched on you're good to go.
It has been so long ago I can't remember colors of wires, but if you can't use a multimeter you shouldn't touch any wires anyways.
All the 12V supply to the fog lamps does is trigger the relay when the foglamp switch is closed (turned on) .
There is minute current draw. A relay that is already on the foglamp circuit still does all the work.
Since the switch opens when high beams are on, there is no danger of double feeding and eliminates the need for a diode or anything else.
Just one little piece of wire to jump with.
You can use in inline splice if you want although I soldered my connections as I do all of them.
If you do it right, you only do it once.
Hope that helps save you some time and aggravation,
Pulled the switch down and found the wire that was hot when the fog lights were on. Found what I thought was the high beam wire and jumped it. didn't work.
Fog lights do not work at all now. The fog light indicator light on the switch won't even light up. I checked the fuse (#43) and it is good. Does anyone know where the relay is and if it could be blown and causing this problem?
All other lights are working fine.
If I can get this back to normal then I am done with it. Hopefully someone will know where to look.
It is up underneath the dash behind the glovebox.
I'll try to post a pic in a few.
I'm going to pull my switch later tonight and post the wire colors.
It was June of '01 when I did it, and I can't remember the colors.
I feel bad that happened and I don't want it to happen to anyone else.
I just went out to my truck. If you open the glovebox, and push in the tabs to let it swing open all the way, it is right above the right hand side.
It is a black box about 2" x 3" and there is only one relay.
I have to go drop off two bids. I'll find the wires I used when I get back and post them.
