My son and I are trying to restore a 65 F100 short wheel base. We could use some help in the wiring department. Are there any sources for harnesses for that year? All we have found are expensive custom street rod stuff. If not is it possible to find a diagram that shows wire lengths, gauge, terminal type, etc. so that we could try to build our own?
If the old ones arent on the truck to use as an example, checkout the on-line store on this web site. It lists some available books of wiring diagrams for older trucks.
Good luck.

Unless you can find a donor truck, you and I are in the same situation. Even the shop manual is of little to no help; wiring manuals typically assume you are starting from scratch. Trying to fix wiring that was patched, updated and/or somewhat restored by others is a nightmare especially if that person loved to use splices every so often. Consider yourself somewhat lucky as I have considerable lengths of orange extension cord to the taillights etc. Doc's House of Bolts has a wiring system for $240 which will give you more circuits than you probably can use.
Try Painless Wiring for a quick an easy harness. They are a little pricey (just over 200 bucks), but it will allow you to upgrade to a better fuse block, connectors, etc... Installation could be performed by my eight yer old in a good Saturday.

LMC, Dennis Carpenter, and Sacramento Vintage Ford all sell a booklet with the complete wiring diagram for each year F-100 from 1963 to 1967 for $6.00. I got mine for my '63 from LMC.
The LMC part number for your truck (1965) is 39-0280.
