I have an 89 7.3L. Does anyone know where I can get tech info on the fuel system. I contacted Stanadyne, and they said contact a local repair shop. I called a pump rebuilder and he said contact Stanadyne. They both treated me as tho my interest was industrial espionage. I think after twenty five years anyone who wanted to know what was in that pump would have already taken one apart and found out.
I have one spare pump, and none that I feel free to damage. Seal kits are available, but without instructions. Also, I don't like driving something I don't understand.
The best way to learn about the Stanadyne pumps is to talk to a good pump rebuilder.
Unfortunately with the price of new IP pumps rather reasonable, it hardly makes it worthwhile to rebuild the Stanadyne IP's once you get all the replacement parts paid for. Then you still don't have all the equipment to calibrate a rebuild pump.
My experience has been that the lowest risk and overall best option is to go with a new pump and be done with it.
Best of luck finding the information you are looking for,
