When I go to crank up my 7.3 every morning, the truck cranks, runs about 3-4 seconds, and then cuts off, blowing white smoke everywhere. Obviously I am getting air in the fuel lines, but where? To recrank I have to turn the electric fuel pump on, which is on a switch and I only have to reprime, then push the little thing air thing beside the fuel filter, and let the air come out. At first I thought it was a leak somewhere, but I parked it on the concrete and can't find any leaks anywhere. Someone told me that on a gasser the lifter pump will go out and when you let it sit the pump will lose its fuel, letting the fuel drain back into the tank slowly. Could this be true? I thought that the tank swap switch would not let the fuel run backwards. What if I just put a block off plate over the lifter pump and only used the electric pump? Will this work? I just wanted everyones opinion before I made up my mind? Where can I get a blockoff plate. Do they normally carry those in a normal parts house?
do you have a return line from the filter head to the first injector, if so clamp off that line. there is a tsb issued to do so, it causes the filter to drain since you have an electric pump i would toss the old mechanical one, i have read times over that a BB chevy block off plate will fit
