if it isnt one thing its another. first it was the white smoke. now it is a leaky fuel filter. the leak is from the bottom of the filter were metal bottom attaches. god only knows what the name for that part is. is there a replacement filter that has a full case, one that doesnt have the ability to leak from a part that it shouldnt have. i love this truck, but one more problem out of it and i really think that this truck and the old horse they are both going to go the same way. due south.
I've replaced the fuel filter twice on my truck, both times I had to retorque the filter to the housing and the bottom to the filter after a week of operation, they started leaking. The first time the o-ring rolled out of the side of the bottom cap and @#ssed fuel everywhere. After a retorque, no more problem.
thats really lame im sorry for you. last time i changed mine it was ionly 2 weeks old
it had a 1/4 inch hole in the side of it. I think someone stabbed it with a screwdriver or something tho.....
I got rid of the stock Ford Filter/Waterseparator all together and replaced it with a 2 micron Racor Filter. The Racor Unit works much better and provide much tighter filtration. It also has a clear plastic bowl at the bottom so you can see if any water or dirt is building up in the separator. Cost is about $130 to buy, in my mind it it worth every penny.
I change mine every year and have never had a leak until this spring. Also the first time I used a NAPA gold filter. Coincidence??? Tightening it slowed it down, but it continued to weep a little bit. Finally just replaced it.

Seb.......
Where would you buy that system and how does it bolt on?
You can buy it at a good marine hardware store as these are used on boats alot.
You can either make yourself a bracket to adapt to the same place as the existing factory filter or mount it off to the right fender like I did on my 93'. You will need a few hose fittings to make it all work. No big deal.
The filter unit you want is a Racor R45S or if you mount it on the fender you can go for the larger (longer) R60S. Both filters use the same braket and clear plastic fuel bowl.

Sorry I don't have any pics at the moment. Hope to have some in my gallery one of these days soon.
I have one on my 86, works well, Dave7.3 you might try some of the larger commerical diesel shops...that where I get my filters, which are very expensive by the way, lol.
