Okay,
I have not posted in a long time, but I always go here before I start working.
1993 f250 7.3l idi. changed the fuel filter back in Oct. put a wix filter on. Noticed the truck smoking when I stopped today and fuel is leaking at the bottom where the plastic cap screws onto the filter. It is definitely not leaking at the top. I have not put a mirror underneath to see what is going on. But I can't remember if there is a oring on the bottom. I know there is one on the top. Leaking pretty good. any help appreciated.
there is an o-ring between the aluminum base and the filter, there is also a drain **** on the bottom of the filter base which could be open. both screw on, make sure they are both tight.
thanks, I forgot about the drain at the bottom. I remember the oring at the top. Is the drain at the bottom the round piece screwed on to the plastic piece. it is definitely not leaking from the top.
okay, my leak is at my drain valve at the bottom of the filter. as tight as it will go and still leaks. I used a wix 33217 filter. It says I can use a wix filter to eliminate the spin on bowl which I think will save time and money instead of looking for a plastic spin on bowl. Do I use the wix 33417 or the wix 33617. the oring was leaking also, i greased it and the leak was then just out of the drain. but it makes no sense to have so many leak points.
