can anyone tell me where i can get outter(stub)axle shafts for a 99 super duty . the parts stores say its a dealer item , but the dealer says they onle sell the assembly. inner, outter, and ujoint assembled. and for a big buck.only need the outters, even if they are aftermarket. any help would be greatly appreciated
There's got to be salvage yards around. I know of several here, and its just a phone and a hope they have what you want. Sometimes they're a great resource. You get a truck that got totaled from a head on collision but the tailgate and rear axle are pristine, there ya go. Actually I sell more to them than I buy. What does a guy do when he has the original mirrors, turbo, or intercooler just soaking up storage space in the garage?

Where are you located? I have a local guy here that has been working on axles for over 20 years and stocks alot of parts.
in reply to twelvealpha : i need front axle parts: in reply to Phwlee i am in western pa. i havnt tried the scrap yards because usually around here, a person is usually better off buying new parts for most items.let me know if you can help even if there affordable aftermarkets available
If you are talking about the front outter stub axle, at the dealer there is a part number for just that. When i was doing my front end swap, my needle bearing was destroyed and eat the stub shaft away. So i started looking around here and saw guzzles write up on lubing the front needle bearing. Most of them well tell you it only a whole assembly until you give them that actual part number. Here the number, 4C3Z-3B387-AA.
On one of our previous post awhile back someone kindly posted the axle stub Ford Part number.
the ford parts place is wrong.Let me see if I can find it.

thanks to everyone for the help. I finally found outter axle shafts online @Quad 4x4. they are 117.95 if anyone elese needs to find them please let them know. its a far cry from the 1250.00 the dealer wants for a pair of the complete set
I have a 2000 F-250 V-10. I broke the front drivers side axel at the carrier.
I shopped around for one , dealer was to pricey, and salvage yards only sold complete axels.
Then I found the complete drivers side axel (inner and outer) on E-bay for $100.00 plus shiping.
Later I found out the carrier was also damaged and needed to be replaced.
In the end I must have spent around $1500.00.
One used axel, new carrier, Lock-Right locker, bearings, seals, 4:88 gears front and rear, plus labor.
Local Ford dealer had in stock the stub axle (4C3Z-3B387-AA) and the u-joint (F81Z-3249-AA). About $210 out the door. Parts fit the '00 Excursion fine and will soon be on their way back to work... - GA
