FT engine pull

I'm trying to get my 330 ft engine out of my truck and am having problems. I have removed 4 bolts connecting the bell housing to engine which is all I can see, But I can't get it apart. The tranny is a 5 speed. Am I missing something totally obvious? I've got manuals coming but I was trying to get this pulled asap. Thanks for any ideas. 1972 F600

I may be wrong but I think there should be 6 bolts between the engine and bell housing.

Good Luck!

Did you take out the starter? (dumb question).

Yeah, I 've got the starter out. I may be like Mr Magoo, but I cant see any more than 4 bolts on the bell housing. Anyone know the locations of the bolts for sure? Thanks

Try jacking up the front of the trans near the bell housing and pulling up, and out at the same time. If its anything like my 390 the motor mount studs will not cleat the frame unless the engine is off by at least 3'' and at that angle your trans main shaft is probally binding inside the clutch. You may also have the two dowles on the sides of the bell housing binding which will stop you dead in your tracks.

Did you remove the four nuts from the torque converter?

Unless he means a 5 speed auto there should't be a torque converter involved.

Update: I found two more lower mount bolts, thanks to a hint from one of the other forums. It damn near jumped out of the truck when I hooked up the chain hoist. Thanks for the input.
