Aftermarket Tuner & Defuel Settings

So I just purchased the Edge Platinum Tuner, and man does this thing rip! I cannot believe the difference. My question is in regards to the Defueling during shifting. This is not Tuner specific, so anyone with any tuner that has defueling please chime in. My question is, I was set at 100% defueling under extreme mode. WHenever I change it to lower than 100% it suggests a transmission upgrade or something like that. What % defueling is safe to run all the time? I adjusted it to 70% and that made a huge difference. However the delay in the shifts still bothers me. Please help. Thanks in advance
Dan

The Edge has always been know for harsh trans shifting. Be careful they are very hard on trannys.

I have the seven levels on my Banks system. I don't have the unit in front of me now, but I believe
-level 1 is 100%
-level 7 is 50%
levels 2-6 are staggered in between.
Defueling just doesn't blend with the muscle car way of thinking.. but I never at 600+ lbs of Torque either...I like my tranny more than I like to Bark.

Good points mentioned by you guys. On the Edge I can adjust as a percentage, in intervals of 10%. I was at 100% defuel, but man it took way too long to shift, it was like whaaaaaaaaaa pssssssss whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa psssssssss and a nice ride for the cervicle region of the spine. Now the shifting is smooth, so my main question is, how low can you go and still be resonable? And I am only talking about when I am in the highest power and highest smoke modes. Is it safe to run at 50%? Or do most of you guys stay at 100%?
Seriously I cannot get enough of the truck now. Its like an entirely new monster.
And is everyone with a tune running an intake? I havent uprgaded intakes yet. I have a 4" turbo back catless MBRP exhaust on there that sounds amazing!
Thanks again

Until I put in the new torque converter I kept mine at 100% all the time. The shifting wasn't all that bad as long as you set it to firm shifts. Have you done that under the Transmission Control menu?

I have it set to firmer shifts under 90% load. I think I need to spend some more time with the manual to figure it out. What type of converter did you get? Is it just heavier duty? How much? And how difficult to install? After you did that could you run it at 0% defuel? Thanks for your help

I set mine for harder shifts under any load. I bought a multi-disc converter from Precision Industries. All in all it cost about $1500 to ship in and have a shop install it. That tranny is WAY to heavy for anything I wanted to deal with. I still haven't set it down to 0% because I really don't have the money for a new tranny so I'm still taking it easy on this one. My buddies tell me I'm just being a puss. Oh well, it'll be my money if I blow the tranny and I just can't afforrd it yet.
