Turbo "leaking" power ?
Looking for some info for my cycle buddy who is computer challenged. He has an 04 F350 with the 6-liter diesel (50,000 miles). When we load up the trailer to go riding, we have noticed that there seems to be a whine of sorts and the truck does not have the power it used to have. Traveling accross KS at 75, the whine gets loud and the truck downshifts even when going over a slight incline like over a bridge at an exit. It never used to do this. In Colorado last week, we had trouble going over 35mph on some of the passes we used to be able to run at 55-60 with no trouble. In my un-informed opinion, it seeme like the turbo pressure is leaking out somehow. On the way back (600 mile trip), 60 miles from home, white smoke billowed out of the exhaust and we pulled over and towed her the rest of the way. I have seen numerous posts about blown head gaskets and that is probably the problem with the smoke. Could the turbo "leak" have contributed to this ? If they fix the head gasket, my guess is the turbo "leak" problem will still exist. Any thoughts ?[/font]
