If there is one thing that drives me completely insane, it's the sound of snoring. I mean pulling my hair out, banging my head on the wall, jumping off a cliff insane. I've always been that way about snoring. I'm not talking the quiet, light cute snoring. I'm talking the 20 lumberjacks with big chainsaws snoring. I used to dread vacations with my folks cause we could only afford 1 room and dad was a big snorer. Not even the Walkman at full blast could block it out.
And unfortunately for me, my dear wife has started doing this. She's always done it on occasion and a humidifier normally fixes it. It ain't workin this time. So I'm getting about no sleep. I've had to resort to sleeping on the couch the past few nights. I was already cranky from lack of sleep, now I'm cranky and sore from my back.
Hopefully this too shall pass...and soon. If not, you may hear about a man with patchy hair flinging himself off a cliff.
i don't think it passes, just gets worse. my dad was the worst. real loud snooring. and sometimes there'd be these long pauses, and just when you thought maybe it had stopped... BBBBRRRRZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Papaw used to snore real bad, he finally went to the doctor and was told he never got to the deepest level of sleep he was supposed to be. They gave him a machine he breathes through and he doesn't snore and sleeps real well.
I don't know if that has anything to do with your wife. but good luck

I've heard that CPAP machines work wonders. As the above poster said, a doctor visit may be in order. You may not be the only one not getting any sleep--your snoring wife may be suffering from sleep apnea and not getting truly restful sleep.
I can sleep through most snoring. But if by any chance I wake up because of the snoring, and my mind starts dwelling on it, forget it! No sleep for me. I used to either elbow the ex, or pinch his nose so he chokes. I know, it's mean, but it's better than putting a pillow over his face.
My mother is a huge snorer. She was told that her tonsils are so big, that when she sleeps, they block her air passage resulting in her snoring.
I can't handle any noises like that when I'm trying to sleep. Snoring is the worst! Get her the sleep apneya mask. Then even if her snoring keeps you up at night you can be entertained by the fact that she looks like Darth Vader.
My daad snores bad too, so trips with him suck... he has what they call sleep apnea, where his nose is shaped wrong so that he nearly suffocates while sleeping, he'll stop breathing for nearly minutes at a time, one of these days he'll just quit... he has the machine for that, but largely refuses to use it. The atletic breathe rite strips sometimes help with snoring.
There is light at the end of the tunnel! Very little snoring last night. She slept on her side, I guess that kept her airway open good. But I'll still suggest she mention it at the doc's.
The other guys nailed. If she stays tired and falls asleep too often, she could have sleep apnea. With apnea, breathing passages are being blocked when the person lays on their back, gravity helps the flesh fall down, cutting off the airway easier. Combination of nasal passage restrictions and throat flesh closing off the airway causes sleep apnea most of the time. She needs to have her doctor get a sleep study done on her to find out....
Sleep apnea puts a real strain on the heart at night because of oxygen deprevation. My breathing was stopping cold a average of 12 times a hour. I have been wearing the jetfighters mask and using a b-pap machine for a year now. It basically forces air thru the nasal passages, keeping rythm with the inhaling and exhaling pressures. I am finally getting some decent rest. Now I have developed high blood pressure. Latest studies show apnea may cause high BP . The down side is the masks are hard to get used to, and the wearer of them simply because of vanity, likes to sleep alone. good luck to her (and you jmo

And sometimes the sleep clinic visits where they attach monitors and stuff to you and you sleep in the lab, are paid for by insurance, because the employers and insurance companies realized what a HUGE problem that conditions like sleep apnea are to productivity and health......so.....have her do the test and if apnea, they'll either recommend some kind of surgery or a CPAP machine....which worked wonders for my brother.....It's quiet and easy to get used to for those who might be in the same room....and the user gets a (finally) good night's sleep.......ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......
I did one of those sleep tests, and yes, insurance will cover t, but sleep good? Nope... one of the worst nights sleep I ever had, all those wires, crappy bed, and strange place lead to poor sleep... my test came back inconclusive, but no apnea.
I have to sleep on my side because if I sleep on my back I snore so badly I wake myself up! You do not want to share a room with me...trust me on that!
Yet, someone else snoring will keep me awake as well.
