Last Wednesday I went into oral surgery and had 4 wisdom teeth pulled. The first 2 days I was not in that much pain. Now the pain is throbbing and my face looks like a blimp.
The Doctor gave me Lortabs to kill the pain but I don't want to be dependant on them. Im lucky enough to have a woman that tries to Doctor me back to health but I have not been too kind to her since I have been so irratable from the pain.
I apologized to her because I felt really bad. Im sorry that im rambling but I just can't wait to feel better so I can be my normal self. Plus it stinks when a big man like me can't eat the fruits in life like a juicy steak.
You're in the worst of it right now. It'll get better in a couple days. I had mine pulled when I was 17. Day one was no big thing, but days 2-4 were terrible.
Do something special for your lady next week to make up for being grumpy now. She'll appreciate the gesture.
Yes, it will get better. Think how much you'll enjoy that steak when you can eat one again!
I had my uppers done at two different times, but they were impacted and had to be chisled out...a piece at a time. Not fun.
Monday I had a molar pulled, and the dentist pulled the good one next to it as well, now I have this huge hole there...I'm not a happy camper about that one. I guess he thinks he did me a favor with a two-for one special.
I really don't like dentists...

I had 4 done at once... the keep is icing your face... lots. My face never swelled up to "chipmunk" proportions or bruise like some other people I know. I think it also helps with the pain a bit... I felt good enough to drive 8 hours to my gf's summer house and I was eating chicken two days after the surgery... Carefully, but eating it none the less.

That's the way they got mine, only it was all 4 of them on the same visit. A few shots of novocain and what looked like an impact wrench. It sounded like celery being twisted when they finally broke. My dad said you could hear it out in the waiting room. People were getting ill listening to the procedure. One lady got up and left.

I had all 4 of mine pulled at once, two of them impacted. I guess I was lucky. Never had any swelling or bruising. I took Celebrex the first two days. After that, it was back to normal. Never had any pain. Getting cavities filled is another story. They can't dope me up enough!
No, it's just not any fun. What Cuda said about the ice is right on, I iced my face down Monday night and it really did help, both with the pain and the swelling.
When I had my second wisdom tooth chisled out, the doc called eveyone in the office over to look at it before he started. That didn't help with my confidence in the impending procedure, I can tell you!
Great- I'm getting ready to have this done in a couple weeks. Two impacted, they messed my teeth up pretty bad, and now one of my uppers cracked.
I'm telling the doctor to knock me out, I don't want to feel that.
I'm really nervous about it, since when my father had his done, he got an infection and had to be rushed to the hospital. Couldn't hardly breath, the doctors said if we had waited another hour, he might not have made it.

I had them knock me out. No way I could've made through awake. My hat's off to all of you that made it through conscious. In the long run, I'm glad I had it done. It was messing up my other teeth and starting to give me headaches. Only regret was waiting till I was 26. They'd been telling me to have them removed since I was 14!

Interesting...I felt just the opposite. They wanted to do some on the first day and reschedule the others a few weeks down the road, and put me under for the proceedures and have a friend drive me home. No way I could afford all that and no way I'm letting them put me under for any reason. I made them give me a local anaesthetic and take them all at once. They were sticking tools in my mouth that looked like they could have come out of my toolbox...and chiseling and grinding. It was no fun but I just focused my mind and got through it. And then I went back to work. Lots of ice and lots of ibuprofen helps. Just think how much better it will be when it's all said & done.
I had all four of mine taken at once. No way was I staying awake for that! I couldn't open my mouth for weeks, evidently they had to do some chiseling... I hope that yours gets back to normal soon. I got a small irrigator to flush out the holes with warm water, that was the best help when i got some food in them.
