I replaced the Cam Position sensor and I still have a bad miss. I have 2 code readers and niether one will read the codes one is a Actron CP9145 and the other is a Actron CP9035. The check Engine light is on. Any suggestions? Auto Zone says they dont have a reader to read the codes.
A miss could be soooo many things.....you are going to have to find someone with a reader that can read the codes. It is the only way to know where to start. Any time the CEL light comes on, there are codes stored. Where are you located? Maybe someone on here is close to you with the autoenginuity software.
Well, the code is what you need, period. See if somebody comes along. Describe your miss in as much detail as you can in the meantime. Most of the time the PCM knows what's wrong with the rig but you may have something somebody else has had before.
When I start the engine it rocks hard back and forth. There is no smoke out the exhaust and it sounds lie one of the cylinders is not fireing. I figure there would be smoke if I droped a cylinder. At first there is no service engine light on then after it is running for say 15 or 20 secounds the light comes on. I was thinking maybe a bad injector but I am not sure how to figure out which cylinder it is to check to see if its getting fuel or not.
Check out my post on "Glow plugs changed" on page 2. Go thru till you wee the link on checking the injectors with a multimeter. Pretty simple to do and it will guide you in the right direction GOOD LUCK
So as Duane suggested is that the best way to find which cylinder is bad? I am new to Diesel engines and dont know too much about them except that if you have to take it to the dealer it's gonna cost ya. It sounds like the drivers side. I am mechanically inclind. I did my Ball Joints and stuff like that myself so I can pretty much do anything with a little guidence.

Does it romp romp when it first starts and is rocking back and forth? Also, when it warms up how does it run then? I know the SES light comes on.
Edit: the IR thermo is an excellent tool for checking exhaust manifold differences. Beats checking each wire terminal IMO.
