The possibility of GM and Ford merging. God, I hope not! This would be worse than the Mercedes-Chrysler merger. Mixing a company that makes quality vehicles with one that I have always considered just a step above Dodge trucks, and not even a very big step.
I saw it on MSN.com and was shocked. It would, however, end a long battle between the two. At the same time, diehard Ford and Chevy fans would forever be at each other's throats.
Most of the people I talk to around here (Motown) kinda like the idea. It may help level the playing field with the foriegn mfg's. If merging gm and ford kept jobs in the US Then I'm all for it. I know this way of thinking might just be UAW/Auto related but it effects the whole contry.
Now merging with Mercedes & Mopar, that's another story.
Chords, They already made them. My Dad had one of them back in the 40's.
It's all speculation. Ford brings in a new GM and suddenly there's all these rumors flying around. He's there now to fix the company and make profits, not merge with another failing company that's losing money as well.
I thought GM was merging with Nissan that was the last thing I had heard and Ford said they had a surplus of money to keep the company up and running for awhile anyway.
Nissan and Ford is still looking up each others dresses. I don't know which would be worse, but like what was said, if it saved and kept jobs here, I'd be for it. Pretty soon we'll all be driving hydrogen powered vehicles so federally governed, it won't matter brand wise.....
