I have a 74 f250 crewcab 2wd that has a new built 390. I bought a 79 f250 crewcab 4x4 . I have been building from the ground up for over a year on the 79 .
I took it to someone to build me a c6 trany and they put in the short tail shaft for me. Because I have a married np205 . Will this work?
I also need to know what engine mounts I can use for my 390 ,so that I can stick it into my 79.?
I noticed that the motor mounts out of the 2wd would not work because of the crossmember in the 79 4x4.
I did find a rear sump pan for 15.00 for the 390 and have it.
So once I have the 390 hooked up to my c6 with the shorttail shaft and bolted to the the married Np205 it should just drop right in right? ( HOPING LOL )
The thing is you need to make sure the C6 has the same bell housing pattern to bolt to the 390. The 205 will bolt up as long as you have a short 6" adapter.
The motor mounts from a 360/390 or 428 will work, you should be able to get what you need from Broncograveyard.com
Right, the 351M/400 towers put the 352/360/390 too far forward. If I understand correctly, you had the 390's C6 rebuilt with the 4x4 short tail shaft? If so, All you need is the correct tcase adapter. I assume the 390 is going into the 79? Shouldn't be hard, with both trucks available.
