78 Ford Bronco 203 to 205 TC Swap
I have a 78 Ford Bronco with a 400, automatic trans married to a NP203 transfer case, its a stock set-up. I want to replace the 203 with a 205, and have some questions:
1. Do all 78 and 79 automatic Ford Broncos have a C6? I am fairly sure only C6's were used in the Broncos.
2. Will I need a diffferent tailshaft going to the 205 if I use my current transmission (that is hooked to the NP203 TC). I thought I read that the 205 utilizes a longer tailshaft out of the transmission.
3. Will a C6 (assuming mine is) married to a NP205 from an F150 work for me. I.E. is the same adapter (extension housing) used between a married setup on an F150 and a Bronco. I have read somewhere about an 8 3/4 extension housing, but not sure if its the same between a pick up and a Bronco.
4. What about the cross member and the mount that bolts to it? Can I use my same cross memeber
Any help/advice/Insight would be greatly appreciated.
