We just bought an 06 XLS, and I want to add some of the XLT options to our XLS (mainly just the foglights, overhead console, auto-dimming mirror, and speakers in the front door posts). Do they use the same wiring harness as the xlt and already have the wiring in there ready to plug up?
I know the fog light wiring is already there (I also know you have to have the ECM reprogrammed after you add them), but I can't tell if the wiring is in the roof for the overhread console and mirror. Also, is the bracket already up there for the overhead console?
I have an 03 xls. The years change but they still make the trucks the same. The sheetmetal is all there for the most options. I do not remember seeing the extra wiring for an overhead unit. I have installed an aftermarket dvd player. The mounting is easy. The wiring is the tough part. Through the headliner, down the B pillar, under the carpet, under the console, then up the inside of the dash. I connected the power to my amp under the passenger seat. It doesn't take much power and could have tapped into the previous light power. Then routed the sound into the stereo. Parking in the woods to watch a movie makes for a great date, just don't forget the jump pack.
