Hi all,
I have a 2000 F350. A couple years ago I had my dealer install a Ford remote start system in my truck. It worked great for a while but earlier this year it started behaving really strange. When I press the start button it goes through it's usual routine but sometimes it has a hard time turning over. There is a series of loud clicks like there isn't enough battery power to start. If I don't use it for a while the next time I do it works fine but the more I try to use it, the more it has this wierd problem and the worse it gets. I know it's not a battery problem because when I start with the key immediately after the remote start fails, everything is fine. (And the batteries are pretty new) Anyone else ever experience this and/or have any ideas? My dealer in town is pretty small and the service guys are not real experienced with remote start systems. (I haven't had time to take it by to them yet... besides you never know how much something will cost at the dealer.
First, welcome to the forum.. My son-in-law bought a used 99 which had a remote starter.. He had battery problems in that they seem to be discharging without any reason after the truck sits over night. He found out that the problem was somewhere in the remote starter circuit.. He disconnected it and solved the problem..

Well.. I'm pretty sure the batteries are NOT the problem. The batteries are not getting discharged, they work fine. It just sounds like that they are dead only when the remote starts tries to start. Otherwise they are working great!.
Thanks
Darin
ictbu, I found that the dealer installed remote start, was a code-a-alarm, I went to those guys to have it fixed. They replaced everything at little cost to me.I did do some of the research here at FTE and was lead to the right answers. That was back in Feb 06, you may be able to find those threads.
jchamb, Thanks for your rely. I wasn't able to find the threads. They only go back to May. I'm going to make an appointment at my dealer this week. I need to get it working before it really get cold.
