I had my dealer install the "Silver" (2W7Z19G364BA) remote start system, and I've had nothing but problems with it. A couple times a week the key fobs will not lock or unlock the doors, the remote start will not start the engine, and the vehicle can NOT be started with either ignition key. Only after messing with the valet button and waiting 15 minutes, it will finally start. The dealer has confirmed that they have duplicated the problem.
The dealer has had the vehicle 12 times to repair this problem. At this time, they have replaced all componets and claim they have exausted all scources of information to repair. The dealer has stated they will remove the remote start and reimburst me for the price I paid. They also made the statement that any aftermarket remote start I may install, will void my warranty.
I would like to keep the Ford system, but I can't continue to keep taking the Expy to a dealer, and they refuse to work on it any more anyway. Their information source says that they have a power supply or ground problem, the dealer has assured me that they are sure that isn't the problem.
If there are any installers or owners that have seen this problem and fixes for it, please respond.
Ok, I see your having a few problems with your system. I did some research on car alarms and this is what I came up with. Code Alram make all of Fords remote systems & factory systems. they have a few web site that will tell you what wire and what color. I will be installing a Code Alarm CA-670 in my Ford Eddie X this weekend. I went to a web site that will prep your system for your car. I got a good deal on the alarm and they will give you a step by step install. This guide will tell what wire and where it's located. If you want I will share this info on you and what happpend when I installed it. I also like the fact that I can still use my keypad with the alarm. Oh and best yet I don't have to get a key made for the remote start system. I can use a ford part # for the bypass kit, And it won't harm my factory system.

Ask your dealer about the "Remote Start Systems Securilock Interface Kit", maybe this unit is out of order, or the unit is wrong installed.
Ask your dealer how they connect the cables from the remote unit to the wiring harness in the car? If they use this unstable contacts,. maybe the this is the problem? Ask the dealer to solder all the cables frome the remote unit.
Finally: Have your dealer checked the programming procedure? There are some points in this procedure, where they need to change the polarity of the signal from the remote unit.
The quality of the install is every bit as important as the hardware. Find out who has the best reputation for stereo/car alarm installations in the area and use them. I've seen a few Code Alarm systems and am not impressed with them. I had an AstroStart remote starting system installed in my Expy seven years ago, when the truck was just a few weeks old. Never had a problem with the system, and never had Ford or the dealer disallow a warranty repair on the truck.
only if the alarm causes the warranty problem you want the dealer to work on they would not cover but if a factory part causes that they have to fix it.
Thanks guys for the responses. I had originally started this thread over 10 months ago. I ended up calling a professional installer and had him call my dealer to tell them how to properly install the remote start.
what happend ? did it work? Ford never install alarm here N.Y. They always send it out to a company who does the work for them. And they fix the raidos or send they back to Veston or something like that.
I had the same problems on my New York installed system. Finally they replaced the entire "brain" there words..and it has worked great since day one. Hope you got it fixed. I agree the install is the most important part.
