Hey I have a 1995 Bronco with 178,000 miles when loaded like backing up a hill
while towing, etc the front end pops.I have already changed the radius arm bushings.Any Ideas what it might commonly be....Mark
Balljoints, tierod ends, axle pivot bushings. shocks, shock bushings are all susceptable to shifting aournd as they age. The most likely cuplprits are listed there in order of liklihood. Balljoinst being the most likely and so on down.
You can do a couple small tests to see if the balljoints and the rod ends are bad. Jack one front wheel off the ground and see if you get wobble or small amounts of endplay by pushing inboard on the 12 o'clock position of the tire. If no shift is detectable try the 6 o'clock position if not, the balljoints are probably still ok. The rod ends are checked by doing the same at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions on the tire. You don't have gravity trying to pull the wheel/tire back down with the rod end test so you may need to push on the 3, then the 9 and back again. Repeat both tests for the other front wheel.
