V-10 Performance Computer/Controller

I am thinking about getting one of the controllers. I have been reading the posts here and I've looked into the Edge and some others. They seem to be for diesels only. Am I missing something? Is there something out there for us V-10 guys? I am after mileage improvements.

It's doubtful any mod you do to the v-10 will pay for itself in mpg alone. This is my conclusion after a year of looking. Most v-10 mods I have come across also require premium fuel, and when you combine that and initial cost, it will be difficult to overcome costs with a few pennys per gallon saved.

The best thing that I havve found was an exhaust and intake. Mine came with a chip for the engine and it works great. With the new cat that I put on and the new exhaust I went from 9.5 to 12.3 mpg. That is average over the last three months so far and I fill up about 2.5 times a week if I am not working. I bought the banks power pack and love it. Lots of more power and if you drive reasonable you can squeeze a few mpg's out of it (kinda hard at first though cause it sounds so good). Fourd at the factory programs their computer during full throttle to provide only 60% power for the first couple of seconds, then it adds more. I was told this was for traction control. This is were the big difference in power comes from.

I am going to go with a SVT flasher for my V10. Friends of mine own a Dyno/ Performance speed shop. I was told that the V10 does not go into open loop when it is at WOT> When I am towing and I want it to go I want it to go. I am sure there are some other advantages like different shift points. Either way Check with MD Motorsports 513-554-1777 I have worked with them on some racing stuff they know what they are doing..... I will let you all know how my flasher works out

I have a SC1715 that I used with my F150 and luckily it's also compatible with the v10. I've set the programming to Towing Performance (requires 91 oct) and can fell the difference in daily driving - it even sounds a little different. One thing I have noticed is that my mileage has stayed pretty much consistant at 13.2 mpg. Before the programmer, I would see it drop in the city, then gain back on the highway. I reset the mpgs last night and well see how it goes the next week or so.

With my F150, I got a 2mpg increase with the programming. Not too bad. The big difference with the F150 was with towing. I haven't had the chance to tow with my v10, but I am anxiously awaiting for our next trip.

Considering the normal $0.20 increase in premium, with a 2 mpg gain - the price balances back out to about the same in cost per mile (as said, maybe 0.01 savings)
