To use a one wire, you have to remove the voltage regulator, an I would replace the fusible link wire with an 8ga or 6ga wire, and a 175a megafuse right by the battery in case there is a short. Your ammeter won't work with a one-wire setup. As far as fit, I think Mean Green makes a one-wire alternator that fits the Ford brackets, but it's pricey. I'd check the fit of a standard GM style one wire unit, and see what kind of mods it will take to fit. You can probably pick up an example one for fitment from a junkyard for $25 or less.
I am doing a similar mod on my 72, but i won't really be much help for fitment issues- I am using a larg-frame Delco alternator, rebuilt to provide 250a, to help keep up with a winch. It'll be a custom mount, intergrated with a power steering pump mount, and no adjustability at that point.
From what I can see on the GM models (big block) the ears seem to be the same, I am goin to pull mine tommorrow and do some measurements to make sure, the only Issue I can see righit now is correct turning directions and maybe how far the pully sticks out, I dont want a bunch of shredded belts.
Ive noticed this, but all I can is small block ford, I called summit and they said it would take over 2 weeks to get one because its a non stocked item...... ill get one eventually.
