AFE intake

I have a 2006 with 500 miles on it and I added a AFE after market intake and filter yesterday. Everything was fine the day I installed it the next day I have a check engine light on. Great?? Where did I mess up? I went to the local AutoZone auto parts and they pluged it in and their were two codes but both read the same thing "EGR excessive air flow" Is this something I did or or is it a problem for Ford? I didn't think I did anything with the EGR but air flow should have improved maybe its related?
If it is related to the after market intake is there a fix?
Any Ideas?
Thanks

ps we cleared them and they came back?

FYI, After a lengthy discussion with an AFE tech we found out that the one I installed was for a early 2006 and I needed one for a late 06 they are exchanging with no problems. They asured me this will fix the problem.

I bought from Off Road Enterprizes in Montclair, Ca. I spoke with Greg. He did alot of research comparing all the different types of aftermarket intakes and we found that the AFE offered more HP and 114 ft pds of torque from just adding this unit. Had to do it.

Give him a call mention my name it may help.

Nope, It says 114 ft-pds of torque, here is the link.

Kinda crazy but that is what made up my mind.
The kit for the newer 2006 is part number 11022-kit I was told it will produce the same ratings. We will see I haven't received it as of yet.

jeeprj, were you ever told what the cause ofthe excessive flow was? I added a Quadzilla to mine and I have the same code P0402 "excessive flow." I can't for the life of me figure out what is causing it. I have an Xcal2 with the EGR dissabled and have taken out and cleaned the EGR, replaced the EBP sensor and am still baffled.

NO, But I just installed the proper kit for mine today and what a difference. My truck runs very smooth and excels awsum. I had the battery disconected for an hour or so and the check engine light has NOT come back on as of yet. Before i reset it twice and it came right back on. I am going to check to see if the code still registers tomorrow.
When I spoke to AFI the tech told me the light would come on with the first kit I installed he did not say what it was or why, just that installing the proper kit would fix it. So far it did.

Jeepr and Chiamarillo,

I have the AFE stage two in my f-250 PSD as well. The first time around I was getting the same fault code. The problem was the tube from the filter to the turbo inlet. With this tube the Mass Air Flow sensor was mounted on the back side of the tube at the first bend, unlike the factory location where it's mounted on the top past the first bend. I guess this is a high velocity point that overwhelms the sensor causing a fault code.

After waiting for nearly five months, AFE sent me a redesigned tube. The sensor was relocated to the same spot as the factory and the problem went away. You guys might want to check the mounting location of your Mass Air Flow sensor and see where it's at. If it's on the back side of the tube that's probably going to be the problem.

Ok so from what I can tell from what you guys are saying then is I need to disconnect both batteries for some time as opposed to clearing them through the programmer?

On a second note my MAF sensor is located in an identical location. Now I have a friend that some how modded his MAF to sit lower in his intake tube on his Quadzilla because it was throwing a different code. MAF will trip P0402 "excessive flow?" I thought that was an EGR related thing? It would make sense though because three starts after I put it on is when it started doing it and it's every three times after I reset it.

I was told to disconect both and it would clear codes. I put the programmer on after and no codes were found.
The code P0402 was the same code I got after moving my MAF sensor down low related to the EGR or not its the same code and is gone now?
Another day gone by and no codes with the MAF moved up top.

Ok I will try to do that today and I will also find out what mod my friend did to lower his MAF sensor into his intake. I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out for the last 3 months! I emailed Quadzilla to see what their reccomendation was....still waiting thanks again.
