yes im sure cuz the ticket my dad n i got said 200mph and the motors tuned and tweaked n so is the tranny
Ok time to pull out the old BS meter, whoops it's pegged out and broke the gauge.
First and obviously easiest is the ticket for 200mph, no state in the union will issue a ticket for 200mph, it's a go to jail, go directly to jail, lose lic, and in most states lose your car. If a cop brought a ticket into court for doing 200mph any lawyer in the world would get it dismissed in a heart beat since your car isn't capable of that type of speed.
Speaking of capable, the cars built and then sold in the US that are capable of 200mph can be counted on one hand, and Volvo has never ever been on that list, and no station wagon of any kind has ever been on that list. even Nascars without the wings are totally unstable at that speed and aerodynamically very few cars can remain stable enough to stay on the road at those types of speeds.
Next 275hp 500ft/lbs, very impressive numbers indeed.... if your running a diesel no gas motor I have ever seen doubles the hp with the torque figures, that means peak hp is around 2600rpm and gas motors do not peak at that type of rpm, no matter what type of tuner you install.
first it wanst built in the us second the engiun and tranny are highly modded third the ticket was in germay i guess u dont know how thoes tickets work so u want me to explain??
First you just infact proved the point of Bob, your ticket was not for 200mph it was for 200KPH europe has not used MPH for many years probably more than you have been alive. so that adds up to 124mph which is almost believable.
Second ok lets leave the US out of it, there has never been a volvo hit the 200mph mark as designed, and still no station wagons and the total cars made world wide that can achieve that speed to be sold as street use cars still doesn't esceed what can be counted on one hand (that leaves out pure race cars like the nascars etc). Your car no matter how much it's been modded out is incapable of 200mph, and infact at about 140mph you would no longer be on the road, it's aerodynamically not designed and would infact become totally unstable, if you doubt this go look at all the cars that are in the 200mph club at bonneville salt flats, they ALL have extensive reworking of ground affects to keep them stable enough to handle that speed. Next since I mentioned the 200mph club, go look at the HP, and you will notice a little fact, NOT ONE of those vehicles has anywhere near 275hp, you need double that to push a 3500lb car through the 200mph barrier, and thats if hte car is aerodynamic which a volvo wagon is not. Lets take the Lamborghini Contach, in 1986 that car could just barely on a long stretch of road reach 200mph (actual top speed was 212 on a calm day with a 3 mile run) that car had 490BHP, so when did Volvo get more aerodynamic than a lambroghini? it also had a 6 speed double over drive transmission.
And lots of tunning still doesn't explain the made up hp and tq figures, so I will drop that.
Best bet is give up now while your ahead. you misunderstood something your dad said or it was the typical fish story with slight embelishments either can be accepted and dropped if it is infact dropped.
i saw a station wagon pop a wheely off the line oncet. it smoked an i-rock z. i have been to germany, infact lived there for 2 months, and they use kph, they have since the country adopted the SI unit of measures, which was very long ago. finnally a volvo can actually do that with minnor tweaks to various components. now should he have said a pfiat, i would be rolling on the floor right now. but the ticket is for 200kph, so he was doning around 125, the late 80's and 90's models were actually overpowered in the bigger models, and could pull 133. They are pretty amazing, for a station wagon. i think it's because they weight very little compaired to other stationwagons.
Alan, I have no problem with the 200KPH figure, and I actually know of atleast half a dozen station wagons that are drag raced all the time (gotta love the look on peoples faces when they get thier doors blown off by moms station wagon) But 140-150mph is the speed that most vehicle designs start to become unstable, I have driven several different types of cars pushing that speed (140 not 200) and I can tell you that seems to be a break point you can feel the car begin to get light feeling to them, and if you do a little checking when the last generation mustangs first came out the insurance companies started refusing to insure some of them due to if you chipped it, the cars had a very bad tendancy to fly and/or flip at 148mph, I heard (notice heard so second hand info) that several state troopers in some western states that had mustang actually had this happen and reported all the same speed.
200 mph is fast, Bill Elliot went 213 mph at talladaga back in 86 I believe it was, and nascar said that is too fast, somebody is going to get killed. So they instantuded the restricter plate on the larger tracks to hold the speed down. Now at talladaga, and daytona they get up to around 196, and even at that speed, if thier just bumped, with out the roof flaps they would go airborne, and sometimes still do. Those cars are designed to handle at high speeds, and they still wreck alot, what chance would a normal street car have of handleing at those speeds when winston cup cars still have trouble, even with thier spoilers, flaps, areo package's, and wind tunnel testing.
remember ryan newmans wreck in his rookie year where he went flying down the straight away. car was so torn up and the rear axle was around 40 yards from the car. toooooooo fast

Yea, even in my truck, when i push 130 ish it feels really sloppy in the steering, and almost like the front is going to float. but i does keep that feeling untill i redline. the suspension could be set up different, but i dont do that often, it just a rocket start truck. the highest i take it at the track is usually in the upper 110's.
just for the record, here is the actual lap time of awesome bill.
Talladega Superspeedway has the record for the fastest recorded time in a stock car - 212.809 mph set by Bill Elliott on April 30, 1987. Elliott circled the 2.66-mile trioval in 44.998 seconds.
