acceleration problem

I have a 4.0 v6 ranger,problem is when i step on the gas it holds back a little then goes, is this normal or is there something i can do to make this smoother .

if you have an older 4.0 with alot of miles, or even a new one with alot of miles. i could just be time new plugs and wires. maybe even new air element.(breather filter)

I'm thinking maybe a faulty TPS, dirty MAF sensor, or maybe a fuel pressure problem.

All can be checked out following clues listed in the "Tech Info" thread, atop this forums main page.

Would help to form up a better guess, if we had more info, like what year, how many miles on it & are you up to date on due, past & present, scheduled maintenance????

Did the problem come about suddenly, after some event, or slowly over time????

Does this only happen when the vehicle is stopped or when you're driving? What year are we talking about here?
