Not without adding an external dvd player. I just run a portable player to the inputs and it works fine. You can't watch dvds while driving either, unless you are willing to bypass the built in safety features.
so with the 500 unit - all you need is the antenna, navigation discs and head unit and you are good to go??? - that sounds just too simple - is it a 6 cd changer too??

I got everything from the donor vehicle which included the cable to regular antenna, the GPS antenna and the HU. It takes 1 DVD for the nav (covers all of North America) and will accept 6 CDs. The DVD and 6 CDs are all in the HU.
thanks - it looks like i am off to the salvage yards - whats the cable to the regular antenna about??
It converted from the standard antenna to fit in the socket on the HU. It was about 30" and orange in color and was used in the 500. Other models may have used the same but may be a different length. The length is not important for the truck.
Since the 05 F250/350 HU will not work in the 03 or 04 F250/350 I would think that this NAV unit would not work either.
No, I do not have the part # but it is the factory Nav HU from an 06 Ford 500. From what I understand the Pioneer/factory DVD Nav unit was available on 7 FoMoCo vehicles. The Ford units will display the Ford logo but can be programed differently if you can find someone that knows how it can be done. I have not found the right person for custom programming.

How did you find a '06 donor car? These are pretty rare aren't they? Might be able to get one from one of the FTE supports that sells at discount, ya think?
well - i have a buddy who is a ford parts guyand and does all the parts for the body shop - he could not locate one from a 500 in a salvage yard - and he searched from texas to california - and to buy one from ford - at this point you have to provide the vin number of the vehicle it came in - as in a replacement for a stolen unit
the next best choice looks like if from an 06 explorer - does any one have pic of the rear of the stock am/fm/6 cd and/or the 500 unit to see how it compares to the explorer unit
bump for answer.
I say again, whats the deal with them not working? Is it just a matter of the brackets not mounting up right is the wiring not compatible. If its the wiring, whats to keep someone from splicing them into a new kit?
