Hi guys and gals! I just bought a 1971 f250 from calif. and the body appears to sag at the rear of the cab and the front of the box. The frame appears to be in fine shape I'm hoping it can be repaired relatively easily. Any ideas?
Thanks Doug
The pass. side appears worse than tne drivers side, so I inspected the rear paas. side cab mount, it looked all there and old but not deteriorated ot the point of failure. I did not have a chance to check the bed support rail yet. There is no rust on this truck whatsoever.
Sounds like the rubber body mounts sacked out with age, easy to replace unless the body brackets are rusted away. Any body movement will misalign and strain the steering column as well steering box bearings and rag joint, readjust the column mounting brackets after you corrected the body to frame.
See, good things come from Kalifornia besides sun.
i agree...mine did that years ago except it was the front mounts. dad had the mounts replaced and they did some metal work on the floorboard, and its been great ever since. made it easier to steer too...
Are hockey pucks a good substitute for the rubber discs? I'm going to "level" my cab and bed because some of the rubber doughnuts went soft. A hockey puck looks like a good fit.
Who sells full kits for 4x4's? I'm talking about original ones, not sporting goods store stuff ;>). And will standard 2x4 kits work for a 4x4? The 2x4 is all I find for sale... Still haven't tried the brick and morter auto parts store, like NAPA.
Hockey pucks- no. They crack and fall out.
Check BOTP (forum sponsor), if they don't have them, check LMC. It should be the same piece between 4x4 and 4x2, I can't see any difference between my 2wd parts truck and my 4x4 project truck.
