programers??

I have a '04 PSD CC 4x4. I am looking for a programmer/downloader. Wondering what is the best one to get for the money. And if anyone has had any horror stories with these add-ons? I also want to be able to monitor all my temps and such.

Which ones have GPS in them also

Thanks for any help you can give me

First decide if you want a pre-programmed one or if you want to tweak it on your own using your computer. Banks, Bully Dog, and Edge make good ones that are pre-programmed and are plug and play, SuperChips makes one you can program using your computer. Do your homework and dont be afraid to contact the maufacturer, afterall it is YOUR truck. Good Luck

Just search the forum (the 6.0 PSD forum is your best bet). There are lots of recommendations, and quite a few horror stories (blown head gaskets/etc.)

The temp monitoring you'll need to do with aftermarket gauges.

And, no tuner has GPS. If you want a nav system, look at one of the replacement stereo head units with that functionality built in.

Dont forget the gauges. Once you install the programmer you should, at a mimimum, get a pyrometer and trans temp gauge. Once you start increasing the torque and horsepower you must monitor the temp to ensure that nothing gets FUBAR. A couple hundred for nice gauges will save you thousands down the road. And besides nothing screams B.A.M.F. like some pillar mounted gauges.

One person said that the tuner's dont come with gps, but Edge does make the A2 which not only will it have your gauges, but it also has gps using tomtom software(but it is not a tuner, just a digital monitor). Now I got my gps the old fashioned way with a replacemant headunit and I use bully dog for my programmer needs, so I can't vouch to how good the Edge piece is, but if i remember correctly, there was one thread on here in one of the forums that said that the big problem with the A2 was that they only had a suction cup mounting option, because of the weight of the A2, I don't know if that has changed or not. If you want to see my system it's in my gallery to give you an idea.

Most of the programmers out there have built in gauges. I personally do not like focusing my attention on the programmer screen and not the road, but that is just me. It is more convenient for me to have seperate gauges so I can quick glance. You could always install gauges at a later date.

Which ones have the built in gauges? The only ones that I know of you have to get seperate gauges, you just have a choice of digital monitors for gauges or the traditional analog gauges.

Most of the programmers have built in MONITOR's. Example the Banks 6-Gun measures EGT but you have to cycle through the menu, same with the Edge and Bully Dog. Sorry for not using the correct terminology.
