I have done a search in the classified and this forum and cannot find a used auxillary battery box for my 71 F-100 4x4.I also looked at the online aftermarket stores but did not find one at those stores.Does any one know of an aftermarket supplier that still sells these battery boxes or does any one have one they will part with? Thanks for any help.
Go over to Jeg's or Summit. They've got aftermarket battery boxes starting at $25 (PN 555-10261). A kit can be had for $80 (PN 555-10260).
For a 4x4, make sure it has wide backing plates or washers to spread the moment load. Ya wouldn't want a battery to be become a projectile or bouncing around the engine bay. Bad things will happen.
Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone.I finally found a good used tray that is out of a 73 so it should be a close fit.Today I installed a 1991-1992 Taurus alternator that is a single wire and puts out 145 amps, way better than the stock unit. All the extra electrical draw I have added to the system requires an auxillary battery system.Has anyone heard of the"Redarc" battery isolator made in Australia? It cost's quite a bit but looks to have all the bells and whistles to make it a very dependable isolator.
