Shifter mod
I have an 82 f150 stepside 2wd with the 400 and a 3 speed overdrive manual tranny. All works fine but the factory shifter really sucks. Its' pattern (H) is terribly wide and sloppy. Does anyone know if Hurst or any other shifter manufacturer makes a replacement?

I am not sure what trans you have, but most of the short throw shifters are imports and domestic cars. Very few aftermarket manual truck shifter will change your shift pattern.
Is your trans top loading or side linkage?

ReAX, never stated that i wanted to change the shift pattern. Was looking for someone familiar to the 3 speed w/overdrive H pattern floor shift. 4th gear is actually overdrive. It's a top loader. I've changed side linkage shifters numerous times but this is my first experiance with this tranny. Like i said, the shifter is fine for haulin' garbage to the dump or pullin' hay wagons but i have alot of mods in this 400 for haulin' ***! (LOL) Need a shifter up to par. - Thanks.

Sorry, I didn't mean invert it or anything of the sort. I meant shorten the distance between gears and tighten the shifter to the gear selector.
