removeing shifter

How do you get the shifter out on a np435 trans?

take off the shift boot then theres a collor around the shifter it should be round with a wide slotin the middle that the stick comes threw just push it down and twist it its spring loaded so it might be hard to push a good healthy screwdriver works good for this if i remember rite twist it counterclockwise

Wizard is correct. Push down and slightly counterclockwise. After you remove the boot, you'll see the 2 pins on the side of the tower and understand how it works. Make sure you put the trans in neutral, block the wheels, and then proceed.

I took a short piece pvc pipe just smaller than the cup, allows uniform pessure on the outside rim of the stamping, someone gave that advice last year and it worked great for me.
