Friend of my daughter, a Marine, bought a car and the dealer closed down. There are no dealers for this make of car within a reasonable distance. Can he do his service intervals at a recognized mechanic and have the maker still honor the warranty as long as he has paperwork? Any input will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You say service intervals. Do you mean scheduled maintenance, or are you talking about warranty repairs.
I'm no expert, but I would think that if you could prove the scheduled maintenance had been done, then the warranty would still be honored, but he would be unreasonable to expect to be reimbursed for warranty repairs that were done by a local mechanic.
Hey guys, thanks for the comeback. Unfortunately, he is stationed in an area that is quite a distance from any dealer. I'd quess the closest one maybe 75 miles away or more. I also meant scheduled maintenance not repairs. The ones stated in the owner's manual - 5k, 10k, 25k. I don't think they should expect someone to drive 100 miles to get oil and lube, etc.
