Is it going this way where you live? We peaked over the summer around 2.91 at one point, it is 2.39 most places around here, and I've heard as low as 2.22 in a nearby city.
I filled up the Jeep over the weekend...$2.91 for midgrade....noticed diesel at $3.45 and was sure glad the pickup was already full. Salt Lake city btw.
Seems like Utah is always quick to jack the price up but real slow to drop the price.
hope people don't get false hopes here. Next week for the slightest little reason, prices could go higher than they were before they started dropping this time. I am enjoying the lower prices, but won't be happy until they drop below $2 a gallon again. It is $2.49 here in Quincy,IL. Has dropped about $.50 a gallon in the last month.

That's exactly what I tell everyone around here! It's dropped to an average of 2.49 a gallon here(for this area...that's good!) and all it would take is another storm to hit the gulf coast then....bam!
If you think that you can make money selling gas for that price, I sugget you get a bunch of investors together and get to it. Everyone would buy from you because you would be the cheapest and you'd get rich!
All kidding aside, Taxes account for on average about 46 cents per gallon in the price of gasoline in the US.
Also, when adjusted for inflation, prices are lower then they were during 1981. It just look more expensive because it's a larger number.
