So I took my 09F250 6.4L in for its scheduled oil change and they found a small leak between the transfer case and transmission. I have an extended warranty and told them to fix it. The dealer I bought it from services it and they are only a used car dealer but own a FORD dealership nearby. It helped because every time they tried to cover it using the extended warranty the original warranty kicked in. I told them to take it to their FORD dealer. Anyway, the FORD dealer called me and told me there was good news and bad news. Bad news it was a paper gasket and warranty won't cover it, but the good news is they found a noise in the engine and it was the idler pulley and it was under warranty and they would cover the paper gasket under the same warranty. No cost to me......

Anyway when I picked it up they gave me the "bill".......$750 in LABOR and total "BILL" was over $1300.......good thing for warranty.....

 

The output shaft from the transmission to the transfer case isn't a paper gasket. It is a rubber seal that is pounded on.
