My A/C Heat display is blank. No lights. None of the controls work for the fan or anything else. Exactly coinciding with this, the brake/shift lock is now preventing me from shifting out of Park if I start the vehicle in Park. I have to start in neutral. I have checked all the fuses in the customer fuse panel inside the vehicle. Any ideas?
A couple of months ago I my cruise control went out. I have not yet scheduled the recall appointment with my dealer, but I did get a recall letter a couple of weeks ago.
I took the Excursion in yesterday and had the wiring harness replaced for the speed control. Also the tech said the speed control was leaking so he replaced it. Then he said the brake/shift interlock is bad, $105. I said wait, cause the A/C is not powered up either. Anyway, I read somewhere about this problem(with the overheating of the speed control) that fuses near or around the speed control fuse can go bad, but I don't know where the speed control fuse is? Help?
The only diagram I have with me now is for a different vehicle, so this may or may not help.
In it,
Fuses F2, 20 amp
F14, 10 amp
F102, 20 amp
are located inthe under dash fuse box, and feed the cruise control. There is also One other fuse, F1.01 5 amp, located in the "aux relay box" which is located in the engine compartment on the driver's side.
Thanks for your response. I hate to sound so ignorant, but I can not find the "One other fuse, F1.01 5 amp, located in the "aux relay box" " in the engine compartment. Is this an inline fuse or in a fuse box in the engine compartment. I found 2 small boxes that have 2 - relay looking devices in each one. By relay looking I mean the cubical black like the relays in the fuse compartment inside the vehicle.
I have had several responses instructing me to check the fuse box in the engine compartment. Again, I can not find that fuse box. Can anyone verify that there is actually an engine compartment fuse box on a 2002 Excursion, V10, 4x4 and if so, please point me in the right direction, I can not find it. Thanks.
The 2002 does not have a power distribution box under the hood. There is a combined box under the dash to the left of the columb under the trim panel. I would check fuse 34 first, since it involves both the EATC control head and the transmission controls. I would also inspect the little wiring loom from the shift lever that goes to the push button on the shift lever for a rubbed through spot, causing a blown fuse condition.
I replaced fuse 34, but no luck. I don't see any places where wires are worn. When you said 'push button on the shift lever', what is that? Hazard? Thanks for your help.
Nevermind, its too blurry to read. Looks like if the fuses are all good then you need to do a circuit trace. If all circuits are good then you have component failure. If that fuse isnt blown I spoke of then both failing at the exact same time would be near impossible unless a wire got cut.
