I just got back from a Seattle to Salt Lake City Ski trip and the Temp is suddenly reading way high - 30 to 50 degrees above ambient.
This morning I was scraping ice and the temp at startup read 84. by the time I got to work (9miles) I had 71 deg. The indication is erratic sometimes it increases while driving, sometimes it decreases. I am guessing either loose or corroded connection at the sensor or a bad sensor. several questions,
Where is the sensor ?
Should I attempt replacement or go for Dealer assist ?
I read through a number of threads, some referred to re flashing after sensor replacement which means a trip to the dealer...... is re flash necessary ?
they are very easy to replace.... just have a screw holding them to the radiator support, and a wire plug.... it is directly in front of the radiator, on a verticle mount.... but there are 2 sensors there.... the lower one is for the airbags, and the upper is for the temp. it has a kinda "cone" shape end on it.
ya mine did that before when i first bought the truck i took it to them cause it was 90 at 20 degrees outside and sometimes it said -45 well I took it in and they said they would fix it and got it back and they told me 80 for it they took it down from I think it was a 100 this was a few months ago I told them to take it off but they wouldnt so I had to pay for it. I wasnt a happy camper there.
