Is the F5-16 the new chip out? It is the only thing listed on Jody's website for the 7.3. I have a 2000 F350 CC SRW 4x4 and I currently have a superchips with the 2 programs and will be removing and selling it. I like the compliments that I have read for a while now about Jody's tunes and think that is the route that I will be taking.
I plan on the 6637 air filter here shortly to get rid of the K&N and want to upgrade to a larger exhaust here shortly.
I would like to get the jody chip with the stock, high idle, no start, 80 econo, and 100 perf programs. Does that sound feasible.....gauges to come shortly also.
Yes, the F5 is out. If you tow heavy I would really think about adding a 40tow or 60tow to that list. Give Jody or Diane a call they are a wealth of info.
May ditch the high idle and go with one of the tow packages......thought about that after I posted.....thanks for the info though. I do get called on occassion to move a family members 28 ft tag camper plus the pressure washing trailer that I pull.
Thanks rampage. I love your avatar....it is so true. I have left it on screen and called the wife over to look at it. Keep them coming.
Why ditch the high-idle? The no-start is a default feature with the F5 so no cost there. The stock setting in the first position is at a discounted price. So if you go this route:
0-no start (no charge)
1-stock (discounted)
2-high idle
3-60tow
4-80econo
5-100pref
Your roughly looking at $440 that ain't bad.
Personally I didn't purchase a stock tune. And if I did, I still would never use it. I can't stand the way my truck runs in stock form now that I've been spoiled by Jody.
So, why a 80 econo vs. a 60 tow? What is the diff between econo and tow? These numbers seem kinda backwards to me. I am saving my pennies (and nickels, dimes, doubloons, and pieces o' eight) to get a dp chip, but there seem to be some overlaps on the tunes. TIA for answers to my questions.
