I didnt know where else to post these. I spent about 20 minutes trying to find the correct forum before i gave up and posted here. I took a friend to San Gabriel Canyon to take some pics of the little streams up there, but the planned trip was quickly diverted to the OHV area when we saw all the fun trucks out there from the road above. It got worse when we found out admission to the OHV area was only $8......yeah you know where this is going.
Heck yeah! I dont think ill be doing it with the daily driver family truck anymore though. The look on WD's face when i showed her the pics last night was priceless (slept on couch). Im thinking about finding a serious beater with 4x4 and a v8.
thats the way to do it, find a cheap pre 80's 4x4, and wheel it till it breaks, then fix what broke just make it better. That way theres no "huge" intial expense, just lotsa little ones here and there
Awesome! I went there about 3 weeks ago in my daily (99 F150) and twisted my front drive shaft in two during one of those " Hey whatch this! " moments. I dont know whats more thrilling... Going through the mud and hills or trying to leave the canyon knowing you only have 2WD and no low range (didnt have the tools to remove the broken driveshaft so it was just hanging off the case). The following weekend I took the ATV instead meanwhile I finish the 73 F250 that im building just for the canyon. So if you get a 73-79 ford pickup, i got plenty of spare parts nearby!
Amtek im going back on Sunday. Any chance i could talk you into showing up? Ill be bringing some photo buddies and we will be taking pics all day. Ill be with the lady and my son, but i might make a slow pass though the mud. No high speed jackassness around the lady!
