/78 F100

new novice.
need help. Have /78 F100 Ranger with 302 and 4 speed tran., step-side, short box. Like to convert to 5 speed tran. Also have an /88 F150 with 5 speed. Great tranny and would like to get same tranny for the F100. Is this possible? all input and comments appreciated. Yes, I am a true novice. Thanks guys.

You have a couple options - get a adapter to mount a dodge nv4500 to your bellhousing or get a new ford 5spd out of a newer pickup with 300, 302, 351w. The nv4500 is a strong 5spd trans and will allow you to use your original clutch linkages. The Ford 5spd is cheaper and plenty strong for a 300, but you will need to fabricate a hydrolic clutch system.
