If you're gonna hotrod it--then change the filter. I've got a pretty extreme tune in my truck and I'm running the stock filter setup. I have an airaid "cold air" box sitting in the basement gathering mold and dust. I have no EGT problems and no dust in my turbo. Spend your money on an exhaust, if you haven't already. That's a much more USEFUL mod than the airbox.
If you are using the stock intake with moderate mods and the egts are good, I'm not gonna worry about an intake and go ahead and get an exhaust system. Thanks partsman!
Checking with the dealer means nothing since it is a verbal comment. Your warrenty is with FMC not the dealership... so no matter what they say... FMC may still void your warrenty depending on the problem.
Seems that they may void it on anything they can think of. I just wonder if they'll do it on something as simple as an exhaust mod. Thanks for the info.
I think most people have completly missed the point of my post. I originally asked for (and hoped to get) a response from any one that had actually made changes to the air intake, or exhaust, then had problems with their warranty.
I have seen many a thread here drowned out by snake oil salesman, and people who seem to beat to death the same thing over and over. It's no wonder I don't post more often than I do.
For those of you who took time to read the original question, and then answer. Thanks for your help.
I have decided to keep the OEM intake for now, and get the exhaust.
I am about to jump off and buy an afe stage 2 air intake and an MBRP turbo back exhaust system. Have any of you guys had warranty issues after changing your intake and exhaust. I do plan to keep the cat in place.
Thanks for any help.
Rick.

No warranty issues with the MBRP cat-back on my truck.
Snake oil salesmen? I don't know about that. I did see your post prior to this one, from last October, asking about an exhaust system and it seems to me that you received good responses at that time.

I didn't reply to your original post because it was unclear to me by what you ment by warranty issues. Issues with things going wrong after the mod, or issues with Ford refusing to cover repairs?

Am I supposed to feel bad now? Whats next? Are you going to take your toys and go home?
well I thought the whole gist of the question was to imply that if "just" the exhaust and intake were changed would ford possible have issue with it and would it possibly affect the warranty...and then there were a lot of posts referring to "ifs" and "have had..." and "did it anways" thus providing the question with IMHO valuable opinions and varied responses and experiences enabling the questioner to better make a choice of what he/she might do with any mod and money...but I guess I was mistaken

Here is the final answer you are looking for.....
Some have had problems with their dealers and with FMC company and some have not. Ask this forum and you'll get a 50/50 split on "go for it" and "do not do it".... so you decide.
Many of were giving you the benefits of being at FTE and other sites for many years, and as a new user, were just trying to give you the "overall picture" without saying yes or no in a direct manner.
Feel free to call my dealership and one diesel tech will say yes to the intake and the other says no... so go figure... but again it is FMC that makes the final call. However, my diesel tech likes CAT back only exhausts as the turbo needs backpressure from the smaller downpipe and the CAT.
Good luck... you may need it and let me be the first to say... "if you play.. be willing to pay." I have a few mods and have calculated their effects and costs into what I can afford to pay... if need be.
