Speedo teeth for E40D?

Alright, I've got an E40D that I put into my 1977 Lincoln Mark V. The transmission is controlled with a Baumann TCS unit. The car came stock with a 2.73 rear end, I've changed it to a 3.25. Tires are 235/75R15.

This is of course a 2WD transmission, and has the input for the speedo drive gear in the tailshaft housing. I have the sensor, but I don't know how many teeth to get on the gear to go on the sensor. It looks like they're availible with teeth ranges from 16 to 21. Any ideas how I can figger out which tooth I need?

tires are 28.87" and have a circumfrence of 90.676" or 7.55' and makes 699.37 revs per mile. With the 2.73 rear the driveshaft spins 1909.19 times per mile. With the 3.25 gears the ds spins 2272.95 times per mile.

Your current tooth count ....New tooth count (x)
------------------------ x --------------------
1909.19 .............................2272.95

cross mulitpy and you should be set. Someone else may have an easier way, but this is the best I could come up with tonight.

Ah, see that's the problem . . . I don't HAVE an existing tooth count to work with. The car had a C6 in it stock, which is long gone. And the gear that was on the speedo cable for the C6 won't mesh properly with the teeth in the E40D's output shaft anyway. Was hopeing someone might have a referance for how many spins the cable would make per mile stock in the car . . .

In that case, do you know how many teeth the trans has and how many rpms to reach 60mph on the speedo? I don't the specifics to make a formula out of it, but it should go something like this

at 60 mph you travel 1 mile per minute. So the driveshaft will turn at 2273 rpms. 2273 times X equals the rpms needed to make the speedo read 60mph. From there x:1 is your ratio and you can get your teeth count from that.

Er . . . sadly, I don't know either of those, the car is still quite a ways from being functional. Did the E40D come with different ammounts of teeth cut into the output shaft (I think the C6 had a few different numbers), or did they all have the same?

What's wrong with praying in school and thinking in church?

Eh, there's that whole "prayer in public schools" mess. And as for thiking in churches . . . well, most anyone capable of rational thought, and understood basic logic wouldn't be in a church now, would they?

Essensially, it's just a way of saying to the fundies "You leave us alone, we'll leave you alone"

Eh, probably. Just wish they'ed just mind their own biusness, stop trying to shove their "ten commandments" everywhere. I don't have too much of a problem with the fundies, as long as they keep their opinions to themselves, and stop trying to legistate their religion as law.
