e4od help

i have a 89 f250 with the e4od in it. i serviced the tranny yesterday, and when i went to dump the fluid out of my drain pan, i found this little ball with a shaft on it. it measures about 1 inch round with about a 1 inch shaft on it. does anyone know where this belongs? please help.

My guess is that it's the factoy plug for the trans dipsitck line. It is installed there to keep anything from falling into the trans, during the initial build, until the dipstick is installed. When the dipstick is installed, it'll push that "plug" down into the trans pan and that's where it sits until the trans fluid is changed....you can just toss it.
