whats better
Ive got an 87 f 150, its a four wheel drive and ive got a question about the hubs. The hubs on this truck arent the standard axle tube end hubs, instead they are in a housing that is copletely removeable when the front tires are off. the lug nuts and tires are the only thing that hold the hub housing on the axle ends, would i be better off to switch the front end or keep the current housings. does it affect the four wheel capabilities of the truck?????

hey....looks like you've found the good ol' flange hubs...I got em' too. If they still work, then you should be fine. I don't really four wheel much, but, mine took a dump, so I had to buy new ones which if you don't know the ford p/n are a pain in the butt to find.
If you need new here's the P/N: E7TZ-3B396-A. There are still a few hanging around, but even with my employee discount they came to about $416.00 for both sides. I did however find a diagram of them and might be able to repair my old ones.
Jeff's bronco graveyard sells the hubs and also a conversion kit to convert to the normal style.
The only downside is that, even though these hubs were a Warn patent, the patent was sold to ford and warn only makes the flange type for the explorer and bronco II, which you can't use because they are too small.
They were only used in 1987-early 1988.
