Ive got a 78 f-150 stock axles with the warn lockout hubs on the front. Its on 35" BFG MT's. I went to go four wheeling to try out my new tires wne when i went to go up this hill the 4 wheel worked but when it got abou half way up the hill and got alot of strain on the front end it slike the hubs let go, and it just started to spin the back and the front just disengaged. I was in low range, it didnt make any loud pop or anything like an axle breaking or anything. Do i just have a crappy hub or what?
I would check the hubs. With it in 2 wheel drive lock the hub, get under the truck and turn the drive shaft. If it wont turn your hubs should be good. From there I would start checking the transfer case. But from what you described I would think hub.
just broke down and tore it down. drivers side wheel bearing assembly fell out when i took the hub off and the passenger side hub was in a hundred pieces. But its fixed now, thanx for the input.
